The Healing Foundation, in partnership with the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, wish to support a two-year award in the area of 'Aesthetic Research'. All research projects relevant to the various aspects of aesthetic surgery will be welcomed but applications are particularly encouraged in the areas most relevant to BAAPS members and those research questions likely to have the greatest impact on the care, well-being and treatment of aesthetic surgery patients.
For over 40 years, Dorothy Sainsbury lived with serious head and facial cancer which necessitated many large and complex plastic surgical operations and which significantly changed her appearance. This award has been made possible thanks to the generous legacy of Dorothy Sainsbury and the support of the British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons. It is hoped this research award will suitably celebrate the life of a unique, brave and greatly-missed lady.
The award is valued at a maximum of £100,000, for two years (i.e., up to £50,000 pa) and could cover the expense of salary (including National Insurance and superannuation), consumables, conference fees and other relevant research costs.
Applicants must be full UK consultant members, interspecialty members or trainee members of BAAPS. Plastic surgery trainees are also eligible to apply if supervised by a full UK consultant member or interspecialty member of BAAPS, who must act as a co-applicant.
Closing date for applications: Friday 30 March 2012, 5pm. |
