Research: Standard Procedures

  Peer Review and Selection
How your application will be reviewed and processed.

  Introduction
Peer review is the process by which applications for grants to the Foundation are judged by experts within a relevant research field. Peer review should be independent and carried out by individuals who have no conflicts of interest with both the institution and individual applying to the Foundation for funding. The Healing Foundation adheres to the guidelines set by the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC).

Please go to www.amrc.org.uk/training--research-practice_peer-review for more information.

The Healing Foundation Research Council is a key part of all research procedures. It comprises representatives from the Foundation's six Principal Member Organisations, with expertise spanning cleft, burns, plastic and reconstructive surgery, psychology and hand surgery.

The Peer Review procedure operated by the Foundation applies to all award types e.g. Fellowships, Bursaries, Project Grants, Programme Grants and Chairs. All applications are externally and internally Peer Reviewed to determine a funding decision. Some additional procedures are adhered to, for example, in the case of Chairs there is a clear need for international peer review panels.

Please see below for information on the Peer Review and Selection processes for each of our funding streams.
